July 30th ITU Duathlon Live Updates

12:55pm: Leon Griffen (AUS) takes the win and claims the gold. Jurgen Dereere (BEL) takes silver and Rob Woestenborghs (BEL) for bronze.
12:45pm: Leon Griffen (AUS) is in  the lead going into final lap of the run.
12:40pm: The Chase pack are flowing through the transition area and head out on the run.
12:37pm: The Lead pack is through the transition area and out on the final run section of the course.
12:22pm: The Lead pack is on the bell lap making their last climb up the hill.
11:35am: The men are through the transition area and on the bikes.
11:25am: The men make it through the 3rd lap still grouped up close in the front of the race.
11:00am: The Under 23 and Elite men get the horn and are off onto the run course.
10:50am: The Men's Under 23 & Elites are due to start in 10mins @ 11:00am.
10:50am: Miek Vyncke (BEL) wins the Under 23 race.
10:41am: Lee (GBR) takes the Bronze medal..
10:40am: Lucy Smith (CAN) claims Silver!!
10:37am: Catriona Morrison (GBR) wins the ITU Duathlon World Championship.
10:34am: Vyncke (BEL) leads the Under 23 race.
10:22am: The top 3 women are thorugh the transition area and onto the run. Morrison has a big lead with Smith being aprox 2 1/2 mins down. Lee trials Smith by aprox. 1 1/2 mins.
10:16am: Coming up to the end of the bike Morrison still leads with a strong gap with Smith trailing in second.
10:07am: Morrison still leads on the bike.
9:21am: Morrison and Smith in the lead, working together. Smith swaps into the lead positon to take a turn in the front.
9:07am: Morrison is through the transition area and is on the bike course.
9:05am Morrison (GBR) still leads the run section of the course. Smith (CAN) follows.
8:44am: The women come through and begin the 2nd lap of the run. Catriona Morrison (GBR) looks strong while she leads the leading group.
8:30am: The Elite & Under 23 Women take to the course.
8:14am: Spence (USA) takes the Junior Women's gold, Sweetland (CAN) silver and Brault (CAN) claiming the bronze.
8:00am: Spence still leads into the finally run lap with Sweetland following.
8:00am: Duplinsky (USA) takes gold with Brownlee (GBR) takeing the silver. Estrangeiro (POR) grabs the bronze.
7:50am: Spence still holds onto the lead during the bike section.
7:50am: Duplinsky is through the transition and heads out on the second run section of the course.
7:40am: Duplinsky (USA) still leads the bike section of the Junior Men.
7:38am: Rebecca Spence (NZL) still leads the Junior Women.
7:30am: Steven Duplinsky (USA) leads going into the second lap of the bike course.
7:23am: Rebecca Spence (NZL) leads as the women move through the transition area and head out on the bike course.
7:05am: The Junior Elite Men get the horn and start out on the course.
7:00am: The ITU Duathlon World Championship has started. The Junior Elite Women are on the course with the Junior Elite Men to start in 5 mins.

Live Updates - Saturday, July 29, 2006

1:21pm: The men 18-29 are off their bikes and working their way through the last run of the course.
12:14pm: Emma Hancock (GBR) takes the gold for the female 18-19 age group!
12:00pm: Starting to see the first of the males from the 30-39 age group entering the transition area and heading out on the bike course.
11:36am: The last wave of athletes to hit the course get started. The male 18-29 age groups are on the course!
11:30am: Men's 30-39 age group get the horn and are started off onto the course.
10:35am: 40-44 male group get started into the course.
10:30am The male 45-49 and 50-54 age groups get started.
10:05am: Miroslav Krsek (CZE) wins the male 55-59 age group.
9:44am: The men begin to finish the bike section and start to flow back into the transition area. After some quick transitions they are back out for second run section of the course.
9:30am: The third wave of women get started and head out onto the first run section of the race.
8:55am: The first of the women enter the transition area and head out onto the bike course.
8:39am: The men enter the transition area and begin the bike secton of the course.
8:19am: Number 114, Mogens Busk Sorensen (DEN) leads the men 55-59 age group.
8:05am: The first wave of women from the Age Group is under way.
8:00am: The ITU Age Group Duathlon World Championships has started!!
7:58am: The ITU Age Group Duathlon World Championships is due to begin in 2 mins.
7:45am: First of the Corner Broook Duathlon & Sprint Duathlon group enters the transition area to begin the bike section of the course.
7:28am: 35 mins to the start of the ITU Age Group Duathlon World Championships.
7:23am: First wave of athletes in the Corner Broook Duathlon & Sprint Duathlon.start the third lap of the run.
7:05am: Event under way!
6:51am: 10 minutes to the first event - Corner Broook Duathlon & Sprint Duathlon.

Sergey and Kite Take off With BMO Financial Group Downtown Dash Titles!

TRI-FEST 2006 has started its second week of events with the ever-popular BMO Financial Group Downtown Dash. The last single-sport event on the schedule was a huge success with a very large number of athletes taking part. There were especially large numbers for the 5 km downtown dash, with 153 competitors. Although the dark clouds covered Corner Brook’s skies, the rain stayed away long enough for the races to finish.
