Rome: Total War Cheat Mode
Start game, then bring down the console by pressing ~ aka tilde or ',
then enter the code from below for the desired effect.
gamestop - Units gets 10% cheaper (only works in campaign mode)
oliphaunt - Elephants gets 40% bigger (only works in campaign mode)
Jericho - Walls fall down in a seige (only in Battle map mode)
Stand off:
When you are outnumbered, have low forces, and know that you will lose, get a good stand off position by gathering all of your remaining forces, and go to a hill or the highest position if possible. If that is unavailable, go into the forests. Then, gather your forces and put all archers in the very back, all medium to close ranged missile weapons in middle, and all of your spearmen in the front with the legionnaires, swordsmen, etc. just behind. If you have elephants or horses, put them javelins. Then, with the spearmen formation, you can either wait for the enemy to hit the spearmen then charge with horses. However it would be better to horse charge them when they are in archer or javelin range, then keep bombarding them. Next, use all of your swordsmen to attack after the enemy hits the spearmen. Then, use all of your forces to charge, except for the archers. Move them away from the fight and keep bombarding. This is also a good choke point defensive maneuver.
Cheat codes
Press ~ during gameplay to access the console, then enter the following:
bestbuy: Units are 10% cheaper.
jericho: Walls will crumble.
add_money X: Adds money. X = amount.
add_population Y X: Adds population, where Y is the settlement name and X the amount.
auto_win attacker/defender: Attacker or defender automatically wins the next auto resolved battle.
create_unit settlement/charactername unit_ID amount exp/armour/weapon: Creates a unit in the selected settlement or characters army with the stats you input
toggle_fow: Toggles Fog of War
give_trait characternname traitname level: Gives the character the trait at the chosen level.
process_cq settlement: Finished the building queue in the settlement
list_traits: Lists all traits
move_character Z X,Y: Moves character to location, where Z is character name and X Y are coordinates.
give_trait_points charactername traitname points: Gives points for the character’s trait.
force_diplomacy accept/decline/off: Forces opponent to accept diplomatic proposal
invulnerable_general charactername: General is invulnerable in combat
date year: Changes date
kill_character charactername: Kills selected character
season summer/winter: changes season
capture_settlement settlementname: Captures settlement

Defend your walls
This is a way secure your medal in battle. Enemies has a lots soldiers, horses, elephants, but you have only few, or one unit of archers, also one unit of swordsman, legionaries... and your wall (Must be stone wall, large stone wal, or epic stone wall). Set your archers on the walls and your infantry behind gates. If enemy forces has not onagers (catapults) or archers, better for you. Also, you mustn't have infantry, it may be elephants or cavarly. By your ''ground forces'' go in front of gate so enemy can go to you. After they came in range of your archers, your ''ground forces'' must urgently retreat behind walls, so gate become closed. Archers will do their job, and enemy wouldn't has any chances, expect if they have missile troops of onagers. It's a way to go through battle with so few, or no casaulties. But, it'll be more difficult if enemy general has lots of stars in his commeand skills. However, it will be a one great HEROIC VICTORY! for you!
